About me
Some information about my person and my studio.
Ok, then I would like to introduce myself again. My name is Zhang Hong Mei (Chinese 张洪梅), or simply "Mei Zi" (Chinese 梅子) and my studio is called "Spring Tattoo" and is in Beijing (China).
The studio is located near the famous bar street "Sanlitun. Also nearby are about 20 messages, so many of my customers are foreigners and not just Chinese. This studio I run since three years. I usually work alone, but sometimes I have the support of an American friend in my studio.
In the meantime, I am 27 years old (born on 10-07-1981 at 11:30 Clock in Hunan province), and tattoo for almost four years. As a child I like to draw and I studied drawing after school, "International Trade" and "Chinese Art" (discipline).
The tattooing I have almost completely self-taught. Additional skills I have learned through friendly tattoo artist. However, I myself consider the tattooing as a profession in which you never stop learning. Only by constant exercise and practice to learn the additional techniques and skills they will continue. It has just never really learned. I hope that I soon find my own tattoo style.
My favorite tattoo Chinese dragon and Chinese characters. Both reflects the Chinese culture in the tattoos. Traditional Chinese designs are not as three dimensional as a Western. For this reason I try to western style with elements of Chinese art and culture connect.
In China, it has a Tätowiererin not easy to give a name or reputation. The tattoo scene in China is dominated by men and as women we are also just not as strong as a man
Had a great influence on my work, "Paul Booth" from New York. In his studio I worked for a short time and I learned a lot from him during this time. Also had an influence "Toxcy" who had also worked with Paul Booth ".
I hope that I can still go to many international convention abroad. Only through contact with international tattooists I too can contribute to making Chinese tattoo culture even more international. So far, however, the biggest problem getting a visa for European countries. It takes a lot of time, stress and money to obtain a visa for a convention.
Even I've Participated in the past to the following convention:
- Tattoo Show (China, 2007)
- Snow Tattoo (China, 2007)
- 17. Tattoo Convention Berlin (Germany, 2007)
- New York City Tattoo Convention (USA, 2007)
- Salt Lake City Tattoo Show (USA, 2008)
- Los Angeles Musink Show (USA, 2008)
- Detroit Tattoo Show (USA, 2008)
- Slinging Ink Tattoo Expo San Antonio (USA, 2008)
- 10. Tattoo Convention Hamburg (Germany, 2008)
To date, was one of my greatest successes that I have the title of "Tattoo Queen 2008 received in Berlin. I am especially proud of because as yet, no Chinese tattoo artists abroad, international recognition and has even received titles. Not to mention a Chinese woman altogether. I am delighted not only to myself, because in my eyes I won in Berlin for China. A special thanks again to the judges in Berlin.
